BE HAPPY!

Life has its ups and downs. At the moment, I know a few people who are in a down, and I don't really know how to get them back up.

I have noticed these people dwelling on certain events or topics that are bringing them down. When they talk to me and they keep repeating the negative, I just want to say STOP!

They will tell me stories where they will emphasize the negative points and touch very briefly on the things that can be seen as positive.

I can be quite a negative person, but I have been trying hard to focus on the positives and keep myself distracted when I am feeling down.

I like to remind myself how big the world is. How we are only human. On the grand scale of things, how important is it that that girl said something bad to me? Life goes on. Other people in the world aren't effected by such an event happening, why should you hold onto it and let it bring you down?

I have seen an exercise that is supposed to bring you out of a negative slump. Every day, write a list of positive things, of things you are grateful for, in your life.

Things that I am grateful for today:
I am studying and working my way towards my dream job.
I live in a lovely location with my favourite person in the world.
I have freedom- a car that works and the ability to go wherever I want.
I am loved and have support around me.
I am healthy and fit.

Everyone has different things they can be grateful for. I want to say STOP putting a halt on your life by focusing on the negative and START making change, moving towards a more positive outcome.

MY QUESTION FOR YOU!
What do you do to get yourself out of a negative place? and What are some things that you're grateful for today?

DIY Diamante Bra!

I have always wanted a funky looking bra and I want something that looks cool under light tops.
So I decorated a bra!
This took me about 3 hours in total.

What you will need:
Diamantes (your choice of colour, shape, etc), pva craft glue, a palette for the glue (I used a post-it note) tweezers and a bra that fits!

Pre-wash the bra. (Bras should always be hand washed to keep them in good condition).
Allow bra to dry.
Organise your work station. I had all my diamantes out and ready, a small amount of glue on my palette, clean hands and clean tweezers.
Get gluing! I found it easier to pick up the diamantes with the tweezers and place them in a small pile of glue.

You can make this with any colours and in any pattern.

MY HAIR!

June 2013, I got a haircut, shaved the side of my head, bleached my hair then dyed it red.
I have kept this style now for 8 months!!
I swear this is the longest I've ever stuck with the same hairstyle or colour since turning 15.

I have shaved my side cut 8 times in 8 months, and re-dyed my hair 5 times. I'm at the stage now where my hair needs re-dying again, and I am  considering doing something different. Going a different colour?!

I have had dark hair previously and I like the "bad girl" feel I get with dark hair. I am thinking I'll go black.

Do I need a haircut? A change of style?

I thought a lot about how I was going to fix my hair when I got sick of the side cut, would I grow it under my long hair or would I cut my hair short so it grows together? I have had short hair before, and would probably go with the short option, but maybe in a while.

One of the main reasons I gave myself a side cut was because my hair is so damn thick! I wear my hair in a ponytail or plaits and its about as thick as an average head of hair, but I'm missing 1 third of my hair!

There's a lot to think about when it comes to hair and appearance.

Since having a side cut and bright red hair, it has crossed my mind many times that there are jobs that I would like to go for but probably couldn't due to my hairstyle. It doesn't give a very professional look.

I think I could live with black/ dark hair for a few months before cutting it all off, and when/ if I do cut it, I will go for a nice pixie style cut.

Short hair is a pain to grow out. There are awkward stages, like when the hair flicked around your ears, or when you can't quite get it all into a pony tail, or your fringe won't stop poking your eyes. There are ways to get around this, basically just accessorise. Clip back your fringe, wear a headband, wear a beanie.

I have really enjoyed having long hair, but I do miss having short hair. It's a pickle that my mind won't really make up for a while to come I think.

STUDYING!

The first semester of 2014, I am studying a short course in Film and Media.
This course is going to cover the basics of camera skills, editing, writing, and communicating with people in the television industry.

I am so excited to be going down this path. Working in television would be my dream job. I am still unsure of which section of television I'd like to work in (because I enjoy all of it) but I am hoping from this course, I will gain some direction.

I have so much to learn, but something I am really keen to get into is writing. Writing a script, writing letters- requests, or permissions, writing call sheets. I think I have a lot to learn when it comes to the writing side of things, but it is here that I think I will benefit most.

I am relating a lot of this course to YouTube and videos I have seen, or made. I have always been quite disorganised with my videos. I have never had a script. This would help on so many levels! When it comes to what to say, flow of the video and editing, a script is pretty much crucial.

I haven't made a video for about 2 months, I've had a huge block, and I just feel lost, but when I get back into it, I will hopefully be more organised.

This post is a bit of a diary entry, but it feels good to be getting back into it, getting my thoughts out and telling the world what's happening in my world.

My 2 months with money- HELP!

There are smart and dumb things you can do with money.
Last year, I was smart, I saved. This year has been off to a crappy start, and I've been dumb.

I had a grand plan to be cheap for Christmas presents, spend as little as possible and just be cautious with money as I knew in 2014 I was going to be a full time student.

My biggest fear was that something would happen, like an emergency, where I would need to give up my savings. Well, this did happen. I went to hospital for 9 days, the first 6 were tests, the doctors trying to figure out what was wrong, on the 7th day they removed my appendix, then they kept me in for another 2 days to make sure there were no complications.

That's 9 days I was unable to work, and what they did to me- they punctured my abdominal wall in 3 places, removed a piece of me and stitched me back up. The post surgery pain stuck around for 2-3 weeks (the worst of it in the first week), and I was just exhausted! I took 4 weeks off work, 5 weeks if you include the week in hospital. I only had a very small amount of sick leave they could give me. I was living off my savings, and it really didn't take me long to go through them.

It has now been a little over 2 months since the operation, and I have been back at work for 4 weeks. My full time course started last week, and I am loving it. I am only able to work 3 days a week, the other 4 days are for study. Since being back at work, I have not been making enough to get any savings back, partly because I have had bills to pay and partly because I've been dumb.

I am lost as to what to do. I know I need to stop buying needless things, I need to be grateful for what I have, and things I don't need anymore, try to sell them. I have been eating out a lot- living in a share-house, it can be hard to get some kitchen time to prepare a meal. I need to start having breakfast at home, making lunch for school or work, and making a big dinner (hoping there will be leftovers for lunch the next day).

Buying groceries and only eating the food in the house will be a great start to saving money, and selling off items of clothing or other possessions that I no longer need or use will bring in an extra income.

I have a couple big expenses coming up- bills, getting my car serviced and I really want to go to Melbourne in a couple of weeks. At the moment, looking at my budget, I can barely afford the bills. Going to Melbourne would be amazing. I would have so much fun. At the moment, it's not doable, hopefully in a weeks time I will be in a better position. I have listed some items on Ebay, and have some clothes and other things on Gumtree. Hopefully I can sell a few things and have some extra pocket money.

I'm not sure what else I can do.

My questions for you:
What's your best tip to saving money?
What do you do for a bit of extra cash?
