Spring Cleaning!

The second week of Spring and I've already spent 3 days cleaning!

Martin and I went shopping for a new wardrobe today at, none other than, IKEA! The ultimate relationship test. What a great bonding experience, buying a house item together then having to build it together. We had to pull down the old wardrobe and transfer all of our clothes and other stuff to a different location while we built the wardrobe. No arguments were had, well... Moving along.

We are going through everything and throwing things out bit by bit. Things like clothing, stuff we don't use and so much paper, like letters and brochures and stuff.

It feels good to be able to create more room, feels bad when I start to think we're just going to fill it up with more stuff, but hopefully we (I mean I) will be able to keep it tidy for a while.

We had been putting off doing a big clean up for a while. The biggest tip I have for you, if you're wanting to clean,  is to just get started. My issue with "just getting started" was I didn't know where to start, so I picked up everything that was on the floor or didn't have a proper space to go, and put it on the bed.

I sorted through the stuff on the bed and threw away the things I didn't need or use any more. I kept everything on the bed until I had cleaned a storage space that could house the items. So, going through the cupboard and drawers and throwing away what you don't need, or finding a better storage space for some items.

I live in a share house, so I am quite fortunate I only have one room of a house to clean. I don't recommend you put all of your belongings from around your house on your bed. The bed idea pretty much only works for a bedroom clean up :).

Also, I do not throw everything away. The items that are still in good condition I donate to the local thrift shop. I would usually like to try and sell some of the better items for a bit of extra cash, but the idea of this clean up was to de-clutter, and to be keeping the items, waiting for a buyer would just be annoying.

Good luck, and I hope this motivates you to de-clutter this Spring.

Thanks for reading! Baii!!
